Urge Congress to Release Additional Funding
Ask Your Congress Representatives to Pass Additional Funding for the Paycheck Protection Program
Our trade associations have been lobbying on behalf of community banks across the country to make sure those funds become available. But there is something we can do to help make that happen…and that’s getting your voices heard. See below for information from the American Bankers Association (calling effort) and the Independent Community Bankers Association (digital plea) as to how you can help!
American Bankers Association (ABA)
Bankers across the country have worked in coordination with the federal government to distribute critically needed funds through the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program. In just under two weeks, the PPP has provided an economic lifeline to more than 1 million small businesses, helping them to remain viable—and maintain their workforces—during the COVID-19 pandemic. Just minutes ago, the SBA announced that the initial funding for the program has been exhausted. That means banks, which have been working early mornings and late nights to serve the needs of small businesses, will no longer be able to provide PPP loans to those employers struggling to survive. Top lawmakers are currently in negotiations to provide $250 billion in additional funding for the program. While nothing in Congress is ever easy, we need leadership in the House and Senate to understand that small businesses need immediate funding to keep their businesses open and keep employees on the payroll. We urge you to reach out to Senate Majority Leader McConnell, Senate Minority Leader Schumer, House Speaker Pelosi and House Minority Leader McCarthy.
Please call (202) 224-3121 to tell these leaders that small businesses need assistance now, and urge them to expeditiously approve additional PPP funding that allows banks to continue to serve the needs of their communities.
Call (202) 224-3121 now and ask to be connected to one of the leadership offices listed above.

Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA)
ICBA called on policymakers to immediately approve additional funds for the Paycheck Protection Program as the initial round of program funds run out. ICBA is urging Congress to advance at least $250 billion in additional funds immediately for the Small Business Administration program.
We are urging you to use the ICBA Be Heard grassroots action center to tell policymakers to immediately approve the new PPP funds.
ICBA will continue working with policymakers to continue the program and ensure it reaches as many small businesses and employees as possible.
